The FodMAP is a free reference site. It has no accounts, no logins, and no newsletter. This policy explains the small amount of data involved.
When you pick sensitivities, courses, or a confidence threshold, those choices exist only in your browser while the page is open. They are not sent to a server and they are not stored after you close the tab.
The city picker has a "Use my location" option. If you tap it, your browser will ask your permission first. If you allow it, your approximate coordinates are used once, inside your browser, to work out which city you are closest to. That location is never transmitted to us, never written to storage, and is discarded as soon as the city is matched. If you decline, everything else on the site works normally.
We use Vercel Web Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights to see how many people visit and how quickly pages load. These record aggregate data such as page views, referring site, country, browser, device type, and page performance timings. They are cookie-free and are designed not to identify individual visitors. We cannot see who you are, and we do not attempt to. Vercel processes this on our behalf as our hosting provider; see the Vercel privacy policy.
Like any website, our host records standard request logs, which can include IP addresses, for security and abuse prevention. These are held by Vercel under their retention policy and are not used by us for analytics or profiling.
The map loads its tiles from OpenFreeMap. Loading them means your browser makes a request to that service, which necessarily reveals your IP address to them, as with any image on any website. We do not send them anything about you.
We link out to restaurant websites, grocery ordering pages, and FODMAP reference sources. Once you follow a link you are on someone else's site, under their privacy policy, not ours.
This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Because we do not collect personal information, there is generally nothing for us to retrieve, correct, or delete. If you are in a jurisdiction with data protection rights such as the GDPR or the CCPA and you believe we hold data about you, contact us and we will look into it.
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it.
Questions about privacy can be sent to the address published on the site's contact page.
