Terms of Service

Last updated 9 August 2026

By using The FodMAP you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

This is not medical advice. The FodMAP is an informational guide. It is not a medical device, not a diagnostic tool, and not a substitute for advice from a doctor or a registered dietitian. Do not use it to diagnose or treat any condition. If you have IBS or any other health concern, talk to a qualified professional. The low FODMAP diet is designed to be run under professional supervision.

What the site is

We read restaurant and grocery menus and publish our own assessment of which items are likely to suit a low FODMAP diet, along with a confidence score that reflects how sure we are. Every judgment is our opinion, formed from published menus, public FODMAP research, and reasoning about how kitchens work.

Accuracy, and its limits

Food information goes out of date quickly. Please understand that:

Always confirm ingredients directly with the restaurant before you order, especially if you have an allergy or a medical condition. We do not verify allergen safety and this site must never be used to manage a food allergy.

No warranty

The site is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted, error free, or that any information on it is complete or current.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss arising from your use of the site, including any physical discomfort, illness, or symptoms following a meal you chose with its help. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to one hundred United States dollars.

Your responsibilities

Content and ownership

The dish assessments, confidence scores, written notes, and design are ours. Restaurant names, menu item names, and trade marks belong to those businesses and appear here descriptively, for identification. No affiliation with or endorsement by any restaurant, grocer, or organisation named on the site is claimed or implied.

Third party links and services

We link to restaurant sites, grocery ordering services, and FODMAP reference material. We do not control those and are not responsible for their content, availability, pricing, or practices. Any purchase you make through them is between you and them.

Monash University

Thresholds referenced here are drawn from published FODMAP research, including work by Monash University. The FodMAP is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or certified by Monash University. Their app remains the authoritative source for per-food serving data.

Changes

We may update the site or these terms at any time. The date at the top shows the current version, and continuing to use the site means you accept it.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict of law rules.
